Written and directed by Blanche Blacke, Columbine & Roses is a multi-media work addressing teen bullying and primitive nature in humanity that seeks dominance, control and sacrifice.

The work springs forth from the music piece Columbine & Roses composed by Blanche Blacke, from improvisations in collaboration with Andrew Morgan.  In Columbine, Colorado, frustration and ridicule drove two boys to turn against their fellow students. A desperate cry. The first movement acknowledges their pain and suffering with the intention of release. Movement two recreates that fateful day and features words spoken, both those of the victims and the killers (victims themselves). Movement three calls forth understanding of consequence and healing. The final section focuses on divine forgiveness.  The theatre piece elaborates on this premise. The ancient Mayan practice of human sacrifice is juxtaposed with present day bully mentality and the events of several recent tragedies. Another aspect of this piece focuses on how personal choice influences events and the possibility of alternative realities
